Today our kids will sizzle in school...air conditioners in schools should be a standard requirement.
On Sunday the 4th of November I held the annual Everton Volunteer Awards! This is a fantastic opportunity to highlight and say thank you to the wonderful volunteers who are responsible for making our community to special!
I couldn’t think of a more worthy “Everton Volunteer of the Year” than Mel Dunning (bottom right)- Albany Creek State High School P&C, Albany Creek Gymnastics Club, School Chaplaincy, Shave for a Cure ...just to name a few. Congratulations again Mel!
The introduction of a State-wide container refund scheme will give people and community groups the opportunity to collect and return containers for recycling in exchange for cash!

In Parliament this week I challenged the Minister for Main Roads to act immediately on a dangerous section of Sth Pine Road (I only got 3 minutes).
The annual reports just released by the Annastacia Palaszczuk government show that the state-owned power generators last year delivered an underlying combined profit of over one billion dollars.
The Palaszczuk government is using electricity as a secret tax while regular Queenslanders and businesses are suffering under crippling power prices.
Today I announced the LNP's plan to restructure the power generators from two to three, creating more competition and reducing prices.
This is something that’s backed by the ACCC (Australian Crime and Corruption Commission) and Labors own productivity commission.
The LNP is the only one with a real plan to reduce electricity bills.
Last night I asked the State Planning Minister to hurry up and make a decision about the Moreton Bay Regional Council's amendment to their planning scheme. People's lives are on hold. Make a decision and make a good one!
Good News- new traffic signals will be switched on this week at the intersection of Old Northern Road and Explorer Drive, Albany Creek.
I've been fighting for safety improvements on our roads for a long time and any step forward is one in the right direction for the people of Albany Creek.
The following safety improvements have been delivered at the intersection:
A new footpath on the eastern side of Old Northern Road is currently in the design phase. Following this, construction on the new footpath will begin to provide safe passage across Old Northern Road.
On Tuesday I was lucky enough to spend some time at the EKKA. I worked in the Prince Charles Foundation Strawberry Sundae Stall, played some handball for charity with Hit105 and got to meet some inspiring Queensland farmers.
Every year, the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation sells over 153 000 strawberry sundaes, with all profits going towards medical research. Over 3000 volunteers work hard to make this happen and I had a blast joining them.
If you’re lucky to make it to the EKKA over the next few days, make sure you get a taste of this awesome cause.
