About Everton

Everton State Electoral District was redefined by the Electoral Commission Queensland in 2017. It now covers the area shown below (48.3km2) and contains an estimated residential popualtion of 51 949 persons.

Notable Everton Facts:

  • Covering some north-western suburbs of Brisbane, the electorate of Everton also extends along the Old Northern Road into the Moreton Bay Regional Council.
  • The traditional inhabitants of the area were the Turrbal people and Old Northern Road was built on a Turrbal pathway leading to the triennial Bunya Feast of the neighbouring Wakka Wakka tribe.
  • Thomas McDowall had a vineyard in the area in the 1870s, on a property he named Everton, likely after the inner north-eastern district of Everton in Liverpool, England.
  • Under the 2017 Queensland State Redistribution, the Everton electorate was expanded to take in parts of Bunya, Warner, Brendale, Bridgeman Downs, Enoggera and Arana Hills.
