Local Petitions - Tim Mander MP for Everton, Brisbane, Australia

LOCAL PETITIONS

Intersection of Eatons Crossing and Lilley Roads

Despite the recent reduction in the speed limit at the intersection of Eatons Crossing and Lilley Roads, there have been five accidents in the last month, demonstrating the need for safety improvements to be made at this site.

I have sponsored a petition requesting the Minister for Main Roads plan and construct safety upgrades to address this situation.

Everton Park Post Office

Australia Post’s decision to close Everton Park Post Office disappointed many residents, and made it harder, particularly for elderly residents, to access vital services.

I understood these concerns so I sponsored a petition to Federal Parliament and wrote to the Board of Australia Post asking them to reconsider.

I am pleased that the Board of Australia Post have recognised they must provide an outlet for basic mail services within the suburb and have agreed to install a Postpoint at the Chemist at Everton Plaza to assist with basic postage and packaging.

While our Post Office has not been reinstated, I am pleased that Everton Park residents will have access to vital services within the suburb again.

Murphy's Paddock, Everton Park

I am very mindful that development needs to be appropriate and sustainable. I sponsored a petition to Brisbane City Council, raising concerns about the proposed development at Murphy's Paddock, Everton Park, particuarly regarding density, greenspace and infrastructure.

The Prince Charles Hospital

The amount of parking available for staff and visitors at The Prince Charles Hospital is inadequate. As a result, local streets are clogged and it is extremely difficult for people moving around the area and attempting to visit the hospital.

I sponsored a petition requesting the Department of Health rectify this situation.

Greensill Road, Albany Creek

Residents tabled a petition in State Parliament regarding their concerns about proposed amendments to the Moreton Bay Regional Plan to include a connection road between Grensill Road and Leitchs Road, Albany Creek. Residents requested the Queensland Government and the Minister for State Development remove this proposed amendment and retain 'local collector road' status for this road.

Warner Investigation Area

Residents concerned about proposed developments in the Moreton Bay Regional Plan regarding the Warner Investigation Area have lodged a series of petitions in State Parliament on various issues, including infrastructure and environmental concerns.

Residents lodged a paper petition requesting the Queensland Government and Minister for State Development reject the Warner Investigation Area component of the Moreton Bay Planning Scheme Amendment.

Residents lodged a petition requesting the Queensland Government and Minister for State Development reject the planning scheme because of traffic congestion and inadequate road infrastructure.

Residents lodged a petition requesting the Queensland Government and Minister for Environment act to protect the koala population in Warner with regards to the Warner Investigation Area in the Moreton Bay Regional Plan.

  • See the petition.
  • A response from the Minister for State Development is due 31/05/2018.

You can find more ongoing petitions relating to this issue on Parliament's website here.

Linkfield Road Overpass

Federal Members, Peter Dutton and Luke Howarth, are advocating to upgrade the Linkfield Road overpass.

You can sign the petition here.

Better Bus Service in Everton Hills

Due to the lack of public transport options for residents in Everton Hills, I sponsored a petition to State Parliament requesting the Qld Government and Minister for Transport provide a public bus route to service Henderson, Bunya, Buckland and Bennetts Roads and Chinook Street, Everton Hills, to give residents in this suburb more adequate public transport options.
