Update on Coronavirus (COVID-19)

During these uncertain times I thought it was important to provide you with the most up to date and accurate information on the unfolding Coronavirus situation.

I hope that you will find this information useful on how you and your family can best prepare to minimise the impact of coronavirus.

This will be a challenging time, but it will be temporary.

Working together is the most important part.

The link below will take you to the most recent information from the Federal Department of Health. I encourage you to check for updates frequently either online or the dedicated hotline on 1800 020 080.

https://www.health.gov.au/news/health-alerts/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-health-alert

The Federal Government has announced a stimulus package designed to keep Australians in jobs, keep businesses in business and support households as the world deals with the significant challenges posed by the spread of the coronavirus.

To find out more information, or to check if you're eligible for financial support, click the link below.

For those people who have been quarantined and are not able to be self-reliant, you can call the Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 1743 349 to arrange the non-contact delivery of essential food and medication.

Finally, my office is always available if you need help or advice on this or any other matter.

Thanks to the LNP every Qld State School will receive Air-Conditioning

The State Labor Govt have adopted the LNP’s policy of air-conditioning every state school in Queensland.

The stunning backflip came after the Palaszczuk Labor Government spent the last two years mercilessly attacking the LNP’s air-conditioning commitment. They claimed it was financially reckless, unaffordable and couldn’t be done within 10 years. Unrelenting pressure from the LNP has forced their hand.

This is a big win for Queensland kids and teachers!

It’s amazing what an effective Opposition can achieve, along with thousands of parents who demanded action for their children.

EVERTON VOLUNTEER AWARDS

I am really proud of the hardworking volunteers across my electorate and it’s important they are acknowledged for their fantastic work in the many schools, clubs, sporting clubs and community organisations.

This year Gladys Foley from The Nest Community was the recipient of ‘Volunteer of the Year Award 2019.  Gladys has worked as a volunteer for over 60 years and started volunteering at The Nest in 2016.  Every week Gladys coordinates over 60 volunteers and donates haberdashery resources to over 38 other communities.  Gladys is an inspirational senior leader and mentor and is well deserving of this award.

I want to congratulate other category winners:

Community Volunteer of the Year 2019 - Ian Anderson from Everton Park Scout Group

Sports Volunteer of the Year 2019 – Nick Elsey from Everton District Sporting Club and Everton Wolves

School Volunteer of the Year 2019 – Chrissie Faulkner from Northside Christian College
