Bridgeman Downs Neighborhood Watch

I want to thank Cass and Claire for taking the initiative to start the Bridgeman Downs Neighborhood Watch Group.  It was great to meet with some of the members at the recent BBQ get-together and talk about local issues.  Even the local Officer in Charge had a snag or two.

If you would like to start up your own Neighborhood Watch Group, please visit the website for more information: https://www.nhwq.org

Saturday 20 July 8.30am - 10.30am.

Stafford and South Pine Rd Intersection Upgrade

Tue 2 Jul 2019

I've been fighting for the upgrades on this intersection for years, and have written to the Minister for Traffic and Main Roads, Mark Bailey, consistently since 2015.

At the last election, the State Labor Government matched my promise of $26 million for the Stafford Rd / Sth Pine Rd intersection upgrade, and $20 million of that should have been spent by the end of 2019/20.

According to the latest budget papers, only $9.629 million will be spent by the end of 2019/20 - not even half of the promise they committed to.  It's totally unacceptable and is another slap in the face for locals.  I have written again to the Minister and am asking for an explanation as to why this election promise has been broken.

I will continue to fight for this upgrade and will keep you up to date with any progress.

Gambling Community Benefit Fund Round 100

Mon 1 Jul 2019

Congratulations to the following local organisations who were successful in their application for the Gambling Community Benefit Fund Grant:

Brisbane Brass Music Association for $35,000 towards soundproofing their theatre and purchasing equipment.

Brisbane Irish Rugby Football Club for $35,000 towards the construction of an ablution block.

North Brisbane Mountain Bike Club for $35,000 to construct additional mountain bike trails.

North Brisbane Water Polo Club for $22,174 to purchase water polo equipment and to provide training.

I want to thank all of these organisations for the great work they do in our local community and would encourage other organisations to apply.

This fund allocates grants to not-for-profit community groups to enhance their capacity to provide services, leisure activities and opportunities for Queensland communities.  Grant amounts range from $500 to $35,000 with the next round opening in mid-July and closing on 31 August 2019.

Murphy's Paddock Update

Tue 13 Nov 2018

Whilst there have now been some changes to the plans for Murphy's Paddock, there is still no indication on how the traffic congestion on already choked back streets will be addressed.

I will continue to raise concerns from residents with Council and encourage you to do this too
The more people that protest, the more chance there is for change.
