Stafford and South Pine Rd Intersection Upgrade

I've been fighting for the upgrades on this intersection for years, and have written to the Minister for Traffic and Main Roads, Mark Bailey, consistently since 2015.

At the last election, the State Labor Government matched my promise of $26 million for the Stafford Rd / Sth Pine Rd intersection upgrade, and $20 million of that should have been spent by the end of 2019/20.

According to the latest budget papers, only $9.629 million will be spent by the end of 2019/20 - not even half of the promise they committed to.  It's totally unacceptable and is another slap in the face for locals.  I have written again to the Minister and am asking for an explanation as to why this election promise has been broken.

I will continue to fight for this upgrade and will keep you up to date with any progress.

In Parliament this week I challenged the Minister for Main Roads to act immediately on a dangerous section of Sth Pine Road (I only got 3 minutes).

The LNP's Plan to Reduce Electricity Bills

The annual reports just released by the Annastacia Palaszczuk government show that the state-owned power generators last year delivered an underlying combined profit of over one billion dollars.

The Palaszczuk government is using electricity as a secret tax while regular Queenslanders and businesses are suffering under crippling power prices.

Today I announced the LNP's plan to restructure the power generators from two to three, creating more competition and reducing prices.

This is something that’s backed by the ACCC (Australian Crime and Corruption Commission) and Labors own productivity commission.

The LNP is the only one with a real plan to reduce electricity bills.

Moreton Bay Regional Council- Make a decision about your planning scheme!

Thu 6 Sep 2018

Last night I asked the State Planning Minister to hurry up and make a decision about the Moreton Bay Regional Council's amendment to their planning scheme. People's lives are on hold. Make a decision and make a good one!

Good News- new traffic signals will be switched on this week at the intersection of Old Northern Road and Explorer Drive

Mon 20 Aug 2018

Good News- new traffic signals will be switched on this week at the intersection of Old Northern Road and Explorer Drive, Albany Creek.

I've been fighting for safety improvements on our roads for a long time and any step forward is one in the right direction for the people of Albany Creek.

The following safety improvements have been delivered at the intersection:

  • An extended southbound right-turn lane on Old Northern Road to increase capacity for turning vehicles;
  • A high-angle entry treatment for motorists turning left from Explorer Drive onto Old Northern Road to improve visibility;
  • A signalised pedestrian crossing across Explorer Drive (at the western side of the intersection).

A new footpath on the eastern side of Old Northern Road is currently in the design phase. Following this, construction on the new footpath will begin to provide safe passage across Old Northern Road.

What a day at the Ekka!

Tue 14 Aug 2018

On Tuesday I was lucky enough to spend some time at the EKKA. I worked in the Prince Charles Foundation Strawberry Sundae Stall, played some handball for charity with Hit105 and got to meet some inspiring Queensland farmers.

Every year, the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation sells over 153 000 strawberry sundaes, with all profits going towards medical research. Over 3000 volunteers work hard to make this happen and I had a blast joining them.

If you’re lucky to make it to the EKKA over the next few days, make sure you get a taste of this awesome cause.

Click here to check out some more photos of the day!

Intersection Upgrade- Albany Creek Rd/Ferguson Street & Wruck Crescent

I am happy to announce that after three years of nagging the Minister for Main Roads, I have finally secured funding for the much needed intersection upgrade at Albany Creek Rd/Ferguson Street & Wruck Crescent intersection.

$595,000 has been allocated to extend both right-turn lanes on Albany Creek Road at the Ferguson Street and Wruck Crescent intersection, and to modify traffic signal phasing to fully control right-turn movements.

I would like to say a big thankyou to all of the local residents who have approached me about this dangerous intersection. I am proud to serve a community of people who stand up and make sure the job gets done!

Improvements were funded in this year’s budget and are scheduled to take place in the 2019/2020 financial year.

Book Donation

I'm so proud of our local schools. One of our residents, Jim, approached me on behalf of his PNG friend Dickson. Dickson's home village in PNG had been devastated by an earthquake, including their school. I sent out a request to our schools for books for the PNG students and the response was fantastic.

Thank you Eatons Hill State School, Everton Park State School, Northside Christian College and Enoggera State School for your donations.

Kate and Ethan made the donation on behalf of their school.
