Policy Announcements - Tim Mander MP for Everton, Brisbane, Australia

Brisbane Entertainment and Education Precinct

An LNP Government will make Brisbane a more attractive investment and tourist location by facilitating a new entertainment and education precinct.

Queensland is crying out for innovative, private sector-led proposals like B.E.E.P. Under Labor these projects have stalled. Labor's Market-Led Proposals framework has delivered just one project in two years and boasts a success rate of less than one per cent.

In goverment, the LNP worked with the private sector to deliver important, transformative projects. Working with the private sector, government can unlock value and deliver a new experiance and asset base for Queenslanders which generates more economic investment, activity and most importantly up to 7,750 jobs.

Protecting Frontline Emergency Workers

An LNP Government will stand up for the safety of our hard-working frontline emergency services workers such as police, paramedics and firefighters.

The increasing number of violent incidents is a real concern and it's clear that strong action is needed to protect those who protect us. Labor's softly, softly approach is failing frontline emergency workers.

An LNP Government will follow the lead of other states and territories and introduce minimum penalties for serious assaults on our frontline emergency services workers.

People Before Crocs

An LNP Government will deliver a common sense, proactive crocodile management plan which focuses on public safety and the long-term sustainability of crocodile populations.

Labor's crocodile management policy is widely regarded as being too soft and slow.

In government, the LNP implemented a crocodile management policy modelled on the Northern Territory's successful three-tiered approach. It was initiated in 2012-13 by developing pilot Crocodile Management Plans for the Cairns, Townsville, Hinchinbrook and Cassowary Coast local government areas - where crocodiles appear to be increasing, leading to rising crocodile-human interactions.

Integrated Resort Developments

Within the first 100 days of an LNP Government we will call for Registrations of Interest for up to two regional casino licences to attract jobs and investment into regional Queensland.

The Regional Integrated Resort Development process started by the LNP has hopelessly stalled under Labor. Queensland is stagnating, the community is crying out for leadership and we have a government stuck in neutral.

The LNP's Integrated Resort Developments policy for regional Queensland will build a better tourism industry and create thousands of construction and tourism jobs.

Cutting Red Tape

An LNP Government will get out of the way of Queensland businesses, so they can focus on creating jobs and employing more Queenslanders.

The Palaszczuk Labor Government has made it harder to do business by increasing red tape and regulation.

An LNP Government will again commit to a 20 per cent red tape reduction target over six years. This is about ensuring businesses are focussed on employing more Queenslanders and not on bureaucratic red tape.

Public Service of Excellence

An LNP Government will build a more engaged and experienced public service that delivers better outcomes for Queenslanders.

The LNP is focused on streamlining processes and ensuring public servants spend less time dealing with bureaucratic red tape and can spend more time delivering outcomes for Queenslanders.

Building a Safe and Fair Personalised Transport Industry

After listening to passengers, drivers, owners and operators, the LNP believes the government's efforts with the personalised transport Industry should be refocused to stand up for the Industry.

An LNP Government will restore confidence to the personalised transport industry - taxis and ridesharing - by appointing an Independent Commissioner and giving the industry a real seat at the table.

The LNP will listen, plan and act for passengers and the Industry, to fix Labor's mess.

Protecting Domestic Violence Victims

Tragically, Queensland accounted for a quarter of all domestic violence-related deaths in Australia in 2016.

The LNP realises the strong need for urgent action to protect victims of domestic and family violence and rebalance the bail system in favour of community safety.

WiFi for Tourism

The LNP’s plan for digital tourism will increase coverage of free WiFi in local communities and key tourism locations across the state.
An LNP Government will promote our key tourism destinations through increased use of social and digital media, to ensure we get more than our fair share of interstate and international tourists.

Taking Ice Off Our Streets

Ice use in regional and remote communities has increased alarmingly in recent years. Queensland needs a targeted, comprehensive plan, which complements the National Ice Action Plan, to tackle this issue and take ice off our streets.
The LNP has a solid record of tackling drug use in Queensland. An LNP Government will implement a comprehensive, five-point action plan to take ice off our streets through crime prevention, drug addiction services and strong enforcement.
