Water Main Replacement in Everton

Fri 3 Feb 2017

Veolia Water Network Services as a contractor for Queensland Urban Utilities will be replacing sections of pipe as part of the Water main Replacement Program. The newly installed water mains will ensure reliability and sustainability of water services in the area.

Work will occur during February and March 2017, at Kyrunda Street Mitchelton, Chessom Street Mitchelton and Newhaven Street Everton Park. Work is expected to finish by 31 March 2017.

Work hours are between:

  • 06:30am - 6pm, Monday-Saturday
  • Some night works between 9pm - 4am

No work will occur on Sundays or public holidays.

The work will involve installation of a temporary bypass supply to maintain water services during construction and temporary water outages - customers will be notified at least 48 hours prior to any planned disruption to water supply.

During work residents may notice an increase in noise, possible odour, vehicle movements and traffic restrictions. Traffic and pedestrian management controls will be in place to keep the community safe.

Every effort will be made to minimise any impact on the local community.

For more information, contact Queensland Urban Utilities on 13 26 57 (7am - 7pm, weekdays) or email community.feedback@urbanutilities.com.au

South Pine/Eatons Crossing Roads Intersection

Thu 3 Nov 2016

Traffic signals  at this intersection were recently upgraded to include Emergency Vehicle Priority technology.

This enables emergency vehicles to automatically trigger traffic light sequences to change along the most direct route when responding to an emergency call.

This means a green traffic light signal is given to emergency vehicles, when safe to do so, in the direction of that emergency response call.

By clearing the path ahead emergency vehicles can respond quicker to emergencies.

Ferny Grove train line maintenance

Thu 21 Jul 2016

To improve the safey and reliability of its service, Queensland Rail has advised it will carry out track maintenance on the Ferny Grove line in August.

This work will involve the use of heavy, loud machinery including on-track vehicles, loaders and trucks with bright flashing lights and reversing beepers.

Residents are advised the on-track resurfacing works and on-track tamping machines involved in the maintenance will be moving along the train line and works will not be continuous in any one location for more than two consecutive nights.

Noise from these activities and movement of on-track machinery, as well as lighting in work zones, may cause temporary inconvenience.

Work will be undertaken between the Bowen Hills and Oxford Park train stations, 11pm to 5am each night on:

  • Monday 1 August
  • Tuesday 2 August
  • Wednesday 3 August

Please see the line maintenance poster here for more information.

Queensland Rail says it will make every effort to carry out these works with respect for its neighbours and it apologises in advance for any inconvenience.
