LNP Delivers Youth Support Hub for Hills District PCYC

LNP Everton MP, Tim Mander and Candidate for Ferny Grove, Nick Elston have announced an LNP Government will invest $450,000 to expand youth facilities at the Hills District PCYC.

Mr Mander said the Hills District PCYC played a vital role in the community and provided valuable service that helped at-risk youth.

"The LNP will invest $450,000 in facilities for a 'Youth Support Hub' at the Hills District PCYC, which will provide additional space for community groups that support our youth," Mr Mander said.

Mr Elston, who recently led a PCYC Forum aimed at bringing together local support groups to achieve co-ordinated outcomes for youth, said that the new space would allow the PCYC to provide space to community groups to create a One-Stop-Shop for young people in the Hills District.

LNP's Plan to Reduce Re-Offending and Recidivism

Wed 15 Nov 2017

An LNP Government will invest an additional $8 million as part of the LNP's comprehensive plan to reduce re-offending rates among juveniles and adults who are released from jail.

LNP Shadow Corrective Services Minister Tim Mander said the LNP's plan to reduce re-offending would not only reduce crime but help alleviate the pressure on our overcrowded prison system.

"Crime rates have continually increased under Labor, our prisons are overflowing and our youth detention centres have been embroiled in controversy with continual riots and centre lockdowns," Mr Mander said.

"We understand the impacts and cost of crime on Queensland families, either indirectly or by having their lives directly put at risk."

"The safety of staff in both adult prisons and youth detention centres has been serverely compromised because of the continual mismanagement of both systems by the Palaszczuk Labor Government."

LNP to employ 535 police officers to keep Queenslanders safe

Mon 13 Nov 2017

An LNP Government will employ 535 additional frontline police officers as part of its comprehensive plan to provide Queenslanders with safe and liveable communities.

LNP Shadow Police Minister Tim Mander said the Queensland Police Service had been crying out for more resources to deal with skyrocketing crime rates and combat the ever-increasing threat of criminal gangs.

"Queenslanders want a government that will keep their streets and communities safe, not one that favours criminals over victims and families," Mr Mander said.

"The LNP is proud of its record supporting our police - in government we employed an additional 900 officers across the state as part of our law and order commitment to make our communities safer."

"Only the LNP can be trusted to ensure that police will again have the resources they need to do their jobs to keep Queensland families safe."

Intersection Upgrade a Reality under an LNP Government

Mon 6 Nov 2017

LNP Member for Everton Tim Mander announced that under an LNP Government, $26 million will be committed to commence Stage 1 of the much needed upgrade of the Stafford and South Pine Roads Intersection.

Mr Mander said, "the congestion at this intersection is a major issue and I am determined to begin the process that will bring relief to congestion in this area."

"Too much valuable family time is being wasted by being stuck in traffic because of Labor's lack of planning," Mr Mander said.

This $26 million investment will build a link road around the back of the Everton Park Shopping Centre on the already allocated transport corridor. This is Stage 1 of the two staged process.

The majority of this stage one of the project can be constructed away from operating roads, therefore minimising traffic and local amenity impacts during construction.

"This has been an issue I have vigorously pursued with the Palaczszuk Labor Government."

They have advised me in every meeting and email correspondence I have made in this term of government that there is no funding to further develop the 2012 planning study," he said.

"I invited the Minister to the electorate in 2015 to survey the problems and he did not take up the offer."

"This upgrade helps me deliver the infrastructure and roads to build a better Everton."

LNP Pitching in $400,000 at Mitchelton Football Club

Thu 2 Nov 2017

Tim Mander, State Member for Everton, said the LNP would invest $400,000 to deliver a full-size playing surface at Mitchelton Football Club if the LNP forms government at the upcoming State Election.

Roger McIntosh, Club President, said he was delighted at the announcement.

"This is an enormous boost for our club. It means we will be able to play up to 75 hours of soccer a week on this field compared to 15 hours a week on a grass surface," Mr McIntosh said.

Nick Elston, LNP Candidate for Ferny Grove, said, "the club deserves our support, and we congratulate everyone at the club for their well-earned success."

Improving local sporting clubs is all part of the LNP Plan to provide Safe and Liveable Communitities and Build a Better Queensland.

Murphy's Paddock Petition

I am very mindful that development needs to be appropriate and sustainable, and that our suburbs remain liveable.

I am gravely concerned about the proposed residential development of Murphy's Paddock, in particular about the density, greenspace and infrastructure around this project.

If this is a concern for you too, please sign this petition
